THE NIGHT BEFORE HE DIED

Thursday week is holy Thursday. Jesus knew that the time of His crucifixion was very near. On the night before Good Friday Jesus gathered his disciples together for the last supper they would have together before He would be arrested and put to death. He then took His disciples into the garden of Gethsemane to pray. During this time He sweated blood due to the knowledge of the suffering He would face next day. He asked His disciples to stay awake and keep Him company but they all fell asleep.
I like to think of the night before Our Blessed Saviour died to help me be grateful for the sufferings He went through for my sins.

THE NIGHT BEFORE HE DIED

I like to think of the night before
Our Blessed Saviour died
And how much agony it must have been
To know He would be crucified
He knew full well of His coming death
And how much He was to suffer
For He was man as well as God you know
And He was heard to utter:
Father, if it be possible
Please let this cup pass me by
And if it all be possible
Please don’t let me die.
And He wanted the company of His friends
On the night before He died
But none of them could stay awake
Because they were all too tied.
So He sat alone with His thoughts
While His friends were asleep
For He was the Good Shepherd
And all the rest were His sheep.
